Membership

Six Reasons For Membership

Membership says, “I Belong Here,”

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Heb 10: 23-25

We all have need of belonging.  There is a security in knowing that you are a part of something meaningful.  Our effectiveness is increased as we link together in community and ministry.

Membership says, “We Share the Same Ministry Goals.”

"From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."  Eph 4: 16

Membership says, "I believe God has a work for me to do in Arnold, and the surrounding areas, as well as the world. I'm willing to join with others to see that work accomplished."

Membership says, “I am Willing to Accept Responsibility.

"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.   But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.  Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the
family of believers."    Gal 6: 1-2, 10

Membership says, "I'm willing to live for others and not just my own interests."

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort
from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love,
being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Philippians 2: 1-4

Membership says, “I am Accountable to Mature Believers in Christ for my Walk with God.”

"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.  They keep watch over you
as men who must give an account.  Obey them so that their work will be a joy,
not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you." Heb 13: 17

“If your brother sins against you go and show him his fault, just between the
two of you.  If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.  But if he
will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be
established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.  If he refuses to listen
to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church,
treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.  I tell you the truth, whatever
you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
will be loosed in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name,
there am I with them.”   Matt 18: 15-20

Membership says, "I will live in a manner that honors Christ and in harmony with this body of believers that I have committed myself to be a part of."

Membership says, “I Am Part of a Body”.

"As it is, there are many parts, but one body.  The eye cannot say to the hand,
“I don’t need you!”  And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”
On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.  And
the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members
of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern
for each other.  If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you
is a part of it."  1 Cor 12: 20-27

Membership says "I want to be part of a caring group of people, sharing each other’s joy and sorrow, and assisting one another as we grow in Christ together."

Membership says “I’m concerned about those who are hurting, suffering or in need
in this body.” It says, “I’m happy when my brothers and sisters prosper.”

Membership says, “I Want to Be a Part Of How Things Are Done.”

Membership makes us fiscally responsible and keeps us legal.

"Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent
by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.  Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil;
live as servants of God.  Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood
of believers, fear God, honor the king." 1 Pet 2: 13-17

Every member has a voice in what this church is and what it does.  You will have a part in shaping our goals, direction, and future.

We have a responsibility to operate with credibility, which necessitates proper membership of those who are a part of People's Church.
