Men's Fellowship

What is the Measure of a Man?

What is the measure of a man? Is it measured by how much money he has? Is it calculated by his success on his job? Is it qualified by his athletic ability? No, these are not the defining characteristics of a good man. Solomon wrote: “The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble,” (Proverbs 15:6). The treasure that is referred to here is based on relationships. First, a good man loves and serves God. He walks in the fear of God. He has made up his mind to serve God and even if he finds himself on the narrow path all alone he won’t turn aside. Secondly, a good man loves and serves his family. He loves his wife as he loves his own body as the Apostle Paul explained in his letter to the Ephesians. Thirdly, a good man is the spiritual leader of his family. His walk with God is a model for his family to follow. Fourthly, a good man serves in his church. He is a steward of the resources and talents God has given to him.

Our Men’s fellowship is an opportunity for men to rub shoulders with each other. Younger men can learn from the older mature men. The older men can share the excitement of the young men. As Solomon wrote, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another, (Proverbs 27:17) so men need the company of other good men to be inspired to improve.

We meet together every second Monday at 8:00 AM at Crackle Barrel at I-55 and Merramec Bottom Rd. for a devotion and fellowship and a good breakfast.

We also participate in work projects through our Simon Ministry to the widows and to Inner-city projects. It’s a rewarding experience to work together on a project.
